MAH E 2013-0152 (RUARC) (1888) [A large (dai-ōban) surimono featuring the same design as above but different text. For the celebration of the change of name of shamisen bunraku performer Tsuruzawa Sanji VII 七代目鶴澤三二 (1852-1894), the image depicts different props from famous bunraku and kabuki plays. Examples include the red wig, fan and peonies used in the play Shakkyō 石橋, the scarecrow used in the sparrow dance suzume odori 雀踊, the hand bell used in the famous Sambasō 三番叟 New Year's dance, and the pair of colored buckets used in the piece Shiokumi 汐汲み. The various props refer to the performer's virtuosity and range. (Text written by Hans Bjarne Thomsen, professor at the University of Zurich)]
